Demand for John Deere Row Crop Tractors at Atlantic Tractor Company

On the Road with Machinery Pete and Atlantic Tractor Company in Delaware

On the Road with Machinery Pete takes us to Atlantic Tractor in Delaware. Farmers in Delmarva were pleasantly surprised by last season’s crop yields, particularly soybeans. Due to the large size of the average field in the area, between 30 and 50 acres according to local farmer TJ Schiff, many farmers are choosing to invest in larger, updated farm equipment that easily covers a field that size.

John Deere Row Crop Tractors in Demand

Atlantic Tractor Company is seeing an increase in demand for equipment like John Deere row crop tractors. In previous years, area farmers were keeping their tractors and combines for up to 3 or 4 years before considering replacement. As of recently, many of them are trading in or selling their equipment earlier, opting for used machinery with fewer hours on it and improved technology.

Search traffic on machinery websites for planters has also seen a bump in recent months and Machinery Pete says it’s a good time to invest.

Crop yields aren’t the only factor causing farmers to buy equipment. Increased regulations on farming due to the proximity of the Chesapeake Bay is also causing many to upgrade their machines. Concerns of runoff into the Chesapeake Bay Watershed are still being addressed by farmers, but new technology is helping them meet the regulation requirements head on and continue turning great yields.

Looking to the future, the demand for bigger farm equipment in Delmarva and surrounding areas is likely to continue. Riding the wave of optimism, TJ Schiff says he’s not afraid of 2018 and expects great things to come.
